One-step synthesis of highly pure and well-crystallized vertically aligned carbon nanotubes

The one-step aerosol-assisted catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) process, when operated in a H2-based carrier gas, is shown to be effective at an extremely low ferrocene content (0.1 wt% toluene), which enables efficiently prepare forests of vertically aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) with high purity and good crystalline level. resulting iron VACNT sample only 0.5 corresponding yield 200 while the steady growth rate (20 ?m/min) maintained significant value. found proportional concentration precursor, it decreases, noticeable reduction encapsulation frequency nanotube channel plainly observed. Lowering generates number density increases CNT diameters structure remain similar. Such levels involves oxidation resistance forest. These results, together in-situ continuous feature aerosol assisted CCVD open up towards new range made pure well-crystallized multi-walled nanotubes, interest for industrial production commercial applications.
